Haniwa Horse at LACMA
I was so captivated by this image of the Haniwa Horse that goes on view today at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, that I had to share my excitement. “Haniwa -- which means ‘circle of clay’ -- are hollow, unglazed sculptures that adorned the surfaces of the mounded tombs of the rich and powerful in 4th through 7th century Japan.” The MFAH has a marvelous Haniwa Warrior.
